Prosecute/Defend

Prosecutors: you must individually make cases against Victor Frankenstein. click on comments, then make an outline, including what charges you will file and reasons for victor's guilt. you must find examples from the text. you should also do a bit of research to find out the actual terms for the crimes you think he has committed. by this point in the story, the monster is on the loose, and william and justine are dead.

Defenders: do the same thing.

These outlines should be thorough. Though you haven't read the whole book yet, cover as many charges as you can up till this point. You can fill out the case later, as more evidence emerges. This is due MONDAY.

Reasons for the prosecution of Victor Frankenstein.

1. Playing God and disobeying the laws of science.
-- Victor created life from the dead and that is the work of God, not a human. He also studied areas of science that were not allowed to be studied.

2. 3rd degree murder.
-- a person dies but the murder was not the intent of the murderer. But the murderer caused the death of another by creating or performing an act dangerous to others and without regard for human life. By creating Frankenstein, Victor created a danger that lead to the death of William and Justine so he is guilty of 3rd degree murder.

3. Also illegally obtaining materials for the creation Frankenstein.

Victor is GUILTY:

-Victor Frankenstein created a human life, which turned out to be a crime against the nature of humanity.
-Victor "aspired to be greater than his nature would allow" (Frankenstein 54), therefore attempting to play God by creating another human being, using different body parts to create it.
-The power that Frankenstein held in his hands to create life led him to blindness.
-He then abandons his creation, and after being shunned by society and labeled a monster, the man lived up to that title and became a villain.
-A villain who disrupted the peace in town, which is also considered a crime.
-The one responsible for the monster's actions, Victor, did not teach him manners nor morals. Which explains his behavior.

victor is guilty

I believe that the advances of modern sciences that were preformed by Victor Frankenstein deserve no punishment alt all but instead praise. I believe that everything there is to be known is science should be known. The miracles that Victor Frankenstein preformed in his lab are awesome and could help the lives of many others. Although I do not believe in eternal life or unnatural creation of life I do believe that his practices could help people such as paraplegics, handicaps, and people with birth defects such as missing limbs.

I do believe that victor is guilty for his actions that occurred after he created his monster. victor was not responsible. He should be punished for the crimes that his creation committed.

Defense Of Victor Frankenstein

1. Trying to advance science and humanity as a whole.

2. It is clear that Victor is clinically insane so he cannot be held responsible for his actions.
Send him away with Chief Bromden.

Defense of Vistor Frankenstein:

1. He was trying to advance science:
-scientific discoveries are always based on proving something true that was a mystery. Victor had no way of knowing how terrible the outcome would be. While this may seem irresponsible, it was his duty as a scientist to question the world around him.

2. Technically, the monster is a living creature, made of human parts, with a human brain. Therefore, he should be tried for murder, not Victor.

1. If people were satisfied with everything, there would no new discovery.

2. Victor’s discovery could save lives (bring loved ones back).

3. Victor's search of scientific knowledge reveals a great deal about his insight of science in general.

4. Science is the only true route to new knowledge

“In other studies you go as far as others have gone before you, and there is nothing more to know; but in scientific pursuit there is continual food for discovery and wonder.”

1. Its against God. God is the only one who creates and takes life. Frankenstein goes against/dishonors God by trying to take God's role by creating life from what God has already taken.

2. Mean to the creature. Frankenstein has created a monster that can't live in harmony with humans because he is to different and humans aren't ready to accept something like him. The monster then realizes that he has to live in isolation, making him so unhappy that he becomes violent.

GUILTY: Involuntary Manslaughter
Victor created a beast who craved revenge. Victor is responsible for the creation of life. Victor had no intention of killing with the beast, but the deaths are caused by his recklessness and drive to advance in unnatural science.

Victor is guilty:

He created a monster who not only is made up of different people and is unnatural but the monster is exceptionally stronger and has rage issues which is dangerous to civilians.

Victor Frankenstein is innocent.

First of all, Victor tries to advance the science area. Also, the creature runs away from Victor, so it is not certain that Victor will abandon the creature. Something should sacrifice to gain more knowledges and ideas. Victor also uses death humans' body. He did not kill alive humans.
Secondly, Victor's mental state is unstable and in insane mood, so the jury should understand his mental state. Victor's desire for learning is too big, so he accidentally did unrighteous behavior.

Frankenstein is innocent because he indeed is. What makes him guilty to give life? First of all, none of us truly understand the myth of living and dead. He dreams and works to benefit the human race with the idea of never get sick or old. Even though he took part of bodies to create his creature, what exactly has him done wrong? Those bodies are dead, and they have no feelings, no pain, no concious, nothing at all. After they're dead, they are nothing more but truly raw materials. Frakenstein even make use of those materials instead of letting them rot on their own. Furthur more, Frankenstein's idea and work is a significant advance of medical technology in his age. He has made the death live. This does not only apply to a totally dead man. Think about a person without an arm or leg, his work could probably give those disables hope of life.
Although his creation is against the principle of God, he has not done anything guilty in ratoinal world. He is innocent.

defense of victor frankenstein:

1.) Victor was trying to make life better for humans. He was on the brink of one of the most advanced medical procedures ever, and as a matter of fact, he completed it successfully.

b.) "the monster" is able to think and even feel some emotion. Victor's creation even realizes that people do not like him and that he cannot be around him. I would say he has enough brains to know that killing is wrong, because he knows that killing victors brother will hurt him. so the monster should be in trouble not victor.

Defense of Victor Frankenstein:

1.) His contributions to science could help save lives and improve all of humanity

2.) The creature is smart enough to read and write he should know whether or not killing someone is allowed. The creature is morally culpable for his actions, therefore, he should be the blame, not Victor

3.) If your a believer of God, you could argue that it is against his beliefs to use a dead person's body for this experiment but the truth is if you're not Christian and don't worship God, who cares? The bodies he used were already dead and weren't going to do anything but rot in the ground. Nowadays there are bodies given to science for these types of experiments and we allow it. Just because the book took place back in a time where no one had thought of doing it before doesn't mean he is guilty of anything except wanting to improve science

well i think that frankenstein is innocent because ....

A) He is advancing science
B)Theres no way that frankenstein isnt socially retarded

ill work from there

Frankenstein is innocent:

1) He is advancing modern science and medicine.

2) The creature is capable of learning and reasoning and should be held accountable for its own actions.

3) His mental state is also questionable.

Reasons Vicotor should be prosecuted:

1) Breaking and entering
- he broke into places to get raw materials to make the creature

2) He went against God
- God made life and death for a reason and Victor went against him and the law of science to make this creature. he brought life to this creature when it wasnt allowed.

3) The creature he created is causing no ends of chaos in the town.
- the creature disrupted the peace in the town and murdered people and caused innocent people to be prosecuted for his wrong doings.

Victor Frankenstein did something against God. Religion had an extremely strong influence on the people of this time. Therefore the work and experiments Victor was doing were illegal. He took the body parts of various people in order to create a new being. This being was a destructive and dangerous creature. It was too strong and powerful for it's own well being. It gained new knowledge at a rapid rate and learned how to manipulate Victor. The creature's destructive nature resulted in the death of Victor's younger brother William and Justine, the family helper/nurse. The creature becomes lonely and becomes even more destructive. It wants a female companion who is just like him so that he does not have to feel ashamed but also so that he can have someone to love. The only person who has the ability to do this is Victor. Victor made a giant mistake by creating this beast. What he did was illegal for a reason, and should have been left alone.

Prosecution of Victor Frankenstein:
1) Recreating life, "Playing God,"and violating the laws of science and religion: By recreating a human being into his Creature, Victor defies the laws of both the church and science. It is clear in the book that it is unlawful to recreate human life by "Playing God" and he was a lunatic for undergoing what he did.
2) Grave-Robbery and Kidnapping: The bodies that Victor used for his experiments were not in his possession and he stole them from graveyards, which is considered grave-robbing and kidnapping as well.
3) Third Degree Murder: Victor's Creature murdered William Frankenstein and led to the murder of Justine Frankenstein. Since Victor is an adult, he has to be held accountable for his Creation's actions. He brought this innocent Creature into the world and it was Victor's responsibility to overlook him.
4) Disturbing the Peace: Victor's Creature disturbed the peace in Geneva and everywhere else his Creature went. This disturbance led to the death of Justine, whom dies due to a riot over young William Frankenstein's death. Also, it led to disturbances in Ingolstadt, where Victor created the Creature.
5) Stealing and Obtaining Information: Victor stole books and ideas from others without permission. He obtained this information illegally because the information used to create his Creature was banned.

Motives for prosecuting Victor Frankenstein:

1. Disobeying the law of science:
Frankenstein was told by Professor M. Krempe since the day he set foot on Ingolstadt, that the subjects that he have been studying are erroneous and ineffective types of sciences which could possibly be the origins of many terrible outcomes. "Every minute, every instant that you have wasted on those books is utterly and entirely lost. You have burdened your memory with exploded systems and useless names."

2. Murder:
Frankenstein is clearly responsible for the death of William and Justine. By creating a creature in which he has no control over, he ignited the source of the death of William and Justine.

Prosecution of Victor:

1. Guilty of 3rd degree murder: Victor create a monster that murdered his own brother. This murder was blamed on Justine who also ended up dying and all because of the creation of this creature/monster.

2. Disturbing the peace: The monster created by Victor goes around the town and causes people tobe scared and afraid causing chaos and disorder.

3. Stealing: He stole raw materials from garves, to make up the body parts of this monster.

4. Going against nature/ the church: He is not God to create a creature and plays God by doing so. There is a cycle of life where everyoe dies and Frankenstein defies this. Nobody creates life, meaning it should not ne done, bt he still does.

Defense:

1. Advancement of Science
- Human life can be extended and Prevent future deaths of innocent people
- He also states that it is the only way to find true knowledge
- New science is discovered

2. The monster should be the one who is to blame not Victor
- The monster is able to think and hunt down Victor’s family
- Kills innocent civilians to get to Victor, the monster is a murderer
- Danger to society
